KRS-One’s The BDP Album Review & Discussion with Jesse Menendez

What does KRS-One have to do to get you to listen to him? I know, I know, he’s the Teacher, and he’s the gate keeper of all things Hip Hop, I get it. We all know his history, what he did, battle with MC Shan, that he’s not just number 1, but number 2,3,4 and 5. Yes, we know! But somehow KRS-One is under the impression we don’t, and on his new album The BDP Album, he again picks up his mantle of success and drives it home to us over some super fresh production by his brother DJ Kenny Parker. Although the message has been played over before, is KRS-One any closer to reminding you or I that he was once, and maybe still number 1? Check out my review below and my conversation with Jesse Menendez on Vocalo.Org.

  1. If you like KRS-One, I think you might like my blog, Rhymes and Reasons. It is a series of interviews with hip-hop heads who discuss their lives in the context of a few songs that matter to them. The interviews tend to focus on questions of justice like racism, sexism, sexual violence, white privilege, etc. I hope you enjoy it.

    Welcome
