[Review] Tony “Prone” Patagonia – Paradox of a Mastermind

•March 16, 2014 • 1 Comment

Prone7 Oddities is a record label in Chicago that represents and respects the true essence of hip hop from the b-boy to the graffiti artist to deep lyricism. 7oddz young gunner Prone recently dropped his latest album, Paradox of a Mastermind but it could’ve been re-titled, No Weak Shit. From out the gate, on Impractical Tactical, prone dismisses current trends and commercialism opting for a more the vintage sound of hip hop, dope rhymes, dope beats, no filler. French producer, Prone MicroFaune aka DaBeatMurder is as much of a star on Paradox of a Mastermind, laying down an absolutely sinister and haunting production on Nameless featuring fellow 7oddz member, Pozlyrix.  It’s a family affair through the 12 track, 30 minute album, even featuring 7 Oddities CEO and head of production, Dreamtek who drops a verse on Infected Direction. Prone never steers off course, aiming to preserve any remaining authenticity left in hip hop, that might of worn off. Prone spreads his wings and his words from Chicago to France on Say What I See, one of the strongest solo songs on Paradox. Paradox of a Mind is a step up from Prone’s last record, Dodging Traffic and leaves you wondering what he’ll do next.

This week’s show unravels Rick Ross’ latest album, Mastermind and whether or not Ross recording career has plateaued. Steve Stoute made noise this past week with his VH1 special, the Tanning of America and his slight diss against 50 cent. Odeisel has plenty to say about Stoutes latest moves. We close out with if 50 Cent needs to prove anything else in rap, and what’s the future of the G-Unit brand. This and more on IllSide Radio.
